La Valdeza and El Coco Quarries

Located in the village of Guadalupe, in La Chorrera district in Western Panama province, the La Valdeza quarry started mining operations for non-metallic minerals in 2008. Under a concession license that covers an area of 153 hectares, it is approved by the National Department of Mineral Resources, Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Panama.

The La Cantera quarry lies on a 44 hectare property belonging to FCC Construcción Central America. It is home to crushing plants and scrubbers, administrative offices, warehouses, a central machine shop, electrical and water supply installations, fuel bunkering and it also has its own quality control laboratory.

Agregados y Materiales de Panamá S.A. (AMPASA) is part of the FCC Construcción America Group. It started extraction operations of non-metallic minerals in 2005 at the El Coco quarry, under a license covering two areas totalling 529.5 hectares located in the villages of El Coco and Guadalupe in La Chorrera, Western Panama.

The mineral extracted there is Basalt, which is subjected to primary, secondary and tertiary crushing processes to produce the required end product, i.e. an aggregate of pre-determined coarseness.

Pre-cast plant:

Located on the premises of the La Valdeza quarry, the pre-cast plant came into operation in 2014 and consists of a modern HESS, Multimat RH 600-2A (2013) concrete block machine and a HORPRE concrete mixing and dispensing unit.

The main materials required for manufacturing are stone aggregates, structural cement, additives and water.
